Cabin at Russian River trip!

We were invited to Jamie's (guitar player in Smash-Up Derby) cabin at the Russian River for the weekend - Best Family Spot Ever!! We got to stay in Jamie's family cabin that he and his parents, brothers and sisters had when he was little and just kept adding rooms onto (we stayed in the original one... there is another one just up the hill that they bought later). It's in Guerneville, just an hour up North from San Francisco and it's in a little division called Rio Nido (Real Neato!). It's basically a bunch of cabins and homes built up the sides of hills (in the trees) in a little canyon in the forest. Down in the middle is a community rec center and pool - old style cool with Adirondack chairs with umbrellas attached placed on a little grassy area that goes around the pool and a restaurant & bar where they grill burgers and dogs and bring cold drinks to you.

There is a tunnel that leads down to the river where everyone splashes and plays and floats around in inner-tubes and rafts. It was pretty hot (high 90's) and the river felt great. Skyler had on a floaty vest and Matt and I took turns keeping hold of Sky and tossing balls around, and, playing with Zac who was happy to sit in the shallows and splash his hands in the water. Skyler's lips turned blue and he was a little shivery but always wanted to stay in and play, Zachary was fine in the cool water and didn't seem cold at all.

We had a BBQ up at Jamie's other house up the hill where we had a great time hanging out with Jamie, his sister Thalia, Maria, Sam, Matt (another Matt, very child like that Skyler had a blast with) Sebastian, Annette, James, Lindsey... a bunch of smart musician types, early 20's, clever and funny.

We woke up in the morning in a forest! You look right outside the cabin's big windows and there you are, high up in the Redwood trees! it's gorgeous. We drove into Guerneville to have breakfast and to walk into the Armstrong Redwoods State Park http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=450 and walked along the nature trail (Zac in the bjorn).

We would love to someday get a cabin up there and will definitely make some family trips back there!
