Mexico in December 2006
We left behind freezing cold San Francisco for a while and we went down to Mexico to visit Ahmee & Baba (Grandma Judy & Grandpa Jules) and hang out in the warm sunshine for a week in mid December.
What a treat! It was pouring rain when we left SF and beautiful and perfect when we got to Cabo. Skyler was great on the plane and we had an easy time getting there. We spent the first couple of days adjusting to the new relaxed atmosphere (it was Christmas - shopping frenzy time, in SF) but we hung out with J & J, swam in the pools, walked on the beach and ate incredible, yummy food and we were suddenly in the groove.
We got to stay in our own condo that had 2 king size beds right across from each other. You know what that means? Besides that we all went to sleep at the same time (late for Skyler - it is a vacation after all), but the best part is being able to jump from bed to bed over the gap. Remember that? Lets just say awesome fun. :-))
We saw: a baby gecko in our condo, bats flying outside at night, butterfly gardens everywhere, the biggest moth ever, all the colorful fish while snorkeling, and a moray eel.
At Zippers Restaurant Jules walked on the beach with Skyler while we waited for our food. Note: Jules does not usually like to get his feet sandy, but what's a grandpa to do when your little grandson asks you so sweetly? They found a sea urchin shell.
We all went to Chileno beach and took turns watching Skyler and snorkeling. Skyler did go out in the ocean with a life vest and a mask on and looked at the fish under the water. The colorful tropical fish were beautiful. A huge Pirate's ship sailed up and set anchor right off shore (really a tourist diving boat but Skyler thought it was real). All very exciting but the coolest thing of all was the dead moray eel that washed up in the surf and was dragged up on the sand by some kids. That's one of those "Yuck" and "Wow" all at the same time things to a 4 year old boy.
One night Skyler had a sleep-over at Ahmee's house and they got to read stories and snuggle all night... well, he cried for mommy a couple of times, but he was happy over all and Jules even joined them in a game of Old Maid.
Skyler had a blast at the Mega Store where he got to bounce on a trampoline that has a harness with bungee cords to get the kids hopping extra high in the air. He loved it, and he wanted to do it again. What a happy time it was.
Overall, we give our trip to Cabo to visit Ahmee & Baba "Two thumbs up". We always have a great time visiting with you. Gracias.
