Big fun Weekend

This weekend was packed with fun! We went to the Exploratorium where we played with sound and music, and saw the dead Iguana. Sunday we went to the zoo with Nana. They had petting stations where we got to see a LIVE Iguana and lots of other creatures. Skyler got to touch and pet them all. He was very careful and did it exactly like the zoo helper said, "wet your finger and pet this way". When he gets bigger we will sign him up for their volunteer program, you get to hold and explain the little creatures for everyone – totally cute! Sunday eve Nancy, Vernon, Benito & Zoe came over for spaghetti dinner and playtime in the backyard. What a nice sunny weekend in SF!

Run the bases

Skyler - We went to the Giant baseball game today! The game went to extra innings, but we stayed for the whole time (no nap) so we could run the bases. After Sunday games they let kids on the field to run the bases. It's quite something being down there on the field. You ran like the wind and won in your category! I hope we can go again soon. It was alot of fun.

Skyler counted to 100!!!!

No kidding, he counted to 100! Matt wrote each number from 1-100 out on a piece of paper and Skyler the Magnificent counted each number out loud. What a smarty pants! It took a couple of times through, be began by saying things like "twenty-eighty, twenty-ninety, THIRTY!" but he went through the list a couple of times and he got it! Okay, there was a bit of a bribe involved, when he first counted to twenty (9 months ago or so) he got a green guy (Alien) from Toy Story, so Matt got him another green guy and this time told him that if he could count to 100 he could have it. What a determined kid... what a Toy Story fan!

What's a honeymoon?

Why do they call a vacation a honeymoon? Is it honey? It's not on the MOON! Do you get to EAT HONEY! Yum! I want a honey moon! Mommy, let's have a HONEY MOON!

Mommy, what's an Angel? What is God?

Can we see him? Why not? Where is he? Is he human? Do the Angels live with God?

Picnic in Golden Gate Park - AIDS Walk

What a wonderful day for a PICNIC! The sun is out and it's warm, the park is full of flowers and people having fun. Frisbee, soccer, picnic, music - Skyler conducting the street musicians with a twig, it was all great fun We laid out our blanket in front of the Conservatory of Flowers and ate and played. Then we moved over to the Dahlia Garden to play in a big open grassy area. We said "Hello" to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (the 6' guy in the brightly colored nun outfit loved Skyler's dimples) http://www.thesisters.org/ and watched the belly dancers - all hanging out at the finish line to entertain the people that were coming in after the long AIDS Walk. What a beautiful day in SF!

visit QUICK! He's changing FAST

I can see it coming - I looked over this morning and realized that it's happening again, he's growing! Suddenly I see him standing across the room and think "look how mature he looks", or he'll walk up to me and all I can think about is how much he's changing: he's so much taller, his face is older...

He's such a great kid - he's still a little boy, but he's just the next step older.

Dinner conversation with Skyler

Mom - We have a special treat tonight, cupcakes! But if you want a cupcake you have to eat all your dinner.
Skyler - No, if you want dinner you have to eat your cupcakes!

Couple of minutes later...

Skyler - Is this a people bone?
Mom - No, it's chicken. You're eating a chicken leg so that's the leg bone of the chicken.
Skyler - How come it's not a people bone?
Mom - We don't eat people, but we do eat chicken and other animals.
Skyler - Why don't we eat people?
Mom - Because that's gross, people are our family and friends.
Skyler - What about strangers?
Mom - Eat your chicken, Skyler.
Skyler - Why do we eat animals?
Mom - Because we do.

Couple of minutes later...

Skyler - Whoof Whoof (Skyler puts his fork down and takes a mouthful of veggies off his plate)
Mom - Skyler! Use your fork please!
Skyler - Whoof Whoof Whoof (I'm a dog)
Mom - I know you're a dog but pretend you're a dog with excellent table manners that uses a fork.
Skyler - Whoof (No)
Mom - Or no cupcake!
Skyler - Okay, okay.

On a softer lighter note Skyler says he wants to be a doctor when he grows up.
