where have the naps gone!

Oh my god, is nap time over!? I use that time to do my work (I am paid to do some work from home each day)! As much as I love spending my days with the cutest kids in the world, I must admit I need a break. Now I put him down and check in a little later to find him entertaining himself with a sock puppet show (one sock on each hand and he's making them talk to each other - too cute!) or sitting there with all of his clothes on inside out and backwards. Last week I walked in to find him sitting with a giant pile of fluffy stuffing next to him, and an empty sack that used to be his pillow. He also enjoys pushing all of the blankets, pillow, Elmo and Ducky out of the crib and dragging into the crib anything he can reach - the cover to the rocking chair, art from the walls, diapers, etc. He does all of this in complete silence while I am sitting in the other room thinking "oh good, he's asleep! now I can get everything done". I walked in and asked him what he was doing and he said "No mommy, go away".

How can he sit in there for 2 hours and be perfectly happy talking to himself and playing with whatever he can get his hands on? What does this mean for his future - it's a wonderful skill to have in just about any profession... But where did he get this trait? not from me or Matt - I couldn't sit and entertain myself for 2 hours with whatever I had next to me unless it was a book. And Matt could only do it in front of a computer (which doesn't count because then you have everything on the computer to entertain you).

Now he wants to dress himself in the morning, which I'm all for, even if it ends up that his jacket is on inside out or upside down. Oh, and the stuffing went right back into the pillow and back into the case, and I made him stuff it himself.
