Sky's first love and roses in bloom

Skyler fell in love with a little girl at Tot's Gym. When he first walked over to her I could tell he was amazed and fascinated by her. She's about 6 years old and was wearing dark pink and a glitter headband. He looked over at me with the funniest look on his face - a mix of wow and "is this okay mommy?!". I smiled and let him know with a nod that it was fine. She made him little pink Playdough balls and got down to his level to talk. She was really cute and he could not take his eyes off her.

When they called "clean-up time" he followed her around helping her put things away. Then it was running time (that's where they have the kids run across the gym and back, a dozen or so times, to wear them out for nap time), and Skyler made sure that he was tight next to our little mystery girl every time he got to the other side. When Winnie (she runs the Tot's Gym extravaganza) yelled out "Run like a chicken" or "Fly like a plane" or "Hop like a bunny" he would follow his cutie all the way across the gym. She's older and faster and I don't think she noticed that she was being followed. But when they all ended up on the other side of the gym and lined up against the wall to prepare for the next run across the gym, Skyler made sure that he was right next to her even if it meant squeezing in between her and whomever ended up next to her, or, at one point, gently pushing another kid out of the way and squiggeling in next to his beauty.

Anything to wear him out for nap time these days is welcome. He's been not wanting to nap as much anymore but then is tired and cranky if he doesn't get one and he falls asleep too early. I've walked by his room a couple of times and heard him talking, when I peek in there he has his socks on his hands and they are talking to each other. When I ask him what he's doing he says "playing puppets mommy" as if that's a perfectly normal thing to do while napping.

Oh yeah, my roses finally bloomed! I never know what's going to bloom or die in my yard, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of this gardening thing!

Steph
