4th of July and what we've been up to lately
4th of July we went to Skyler's friend from school Isaak's house and hung out with his mom & dad (Allegra & Bryan) and another family. After eating yummy BBQ Matt, Zac and I went home early, before the fireworks, so that Zachary wouldn't be scared by the loud noise. Skyler had a sleep over with Isaak and they are good buddies.
The next day, Saturday, we had a second 4th party here at our house with Kevin, Chris, Thalia, Mom, Nancy, Benito & Zoey - lovely big family fun with food and drinks! The kids ran around and played in the backyard, we sat around and ate all day (Grill Master Matt hard at work) and lit off some little fireworks like snakes and flowers and spinning fizzy things.
Zachary is CUTE! and so much fun! He's really enjoying crawling at a clip and walking around anything he can hold on to. He's eating lots of food - loves sweet potatoes and whatever mom is eating chewed up and fed "birdie-style" - and drinks water and juice from a sippy cup and munches on teething biscuits and toast. Loves to sing and babble. We've been spending lots of time with Uncle Kevin and Auntie Chris and of course baby Thalia.
Chris, Thalia, Zac and I went to the Habitot Museum http://www.habitot.org/ on Monday - that place is a blast for little kiddies! I wish they had one in SF (it's in Berkeley). Zac loved crawling through the space ship and pushing all the buttons, he really liked steering the ship (like in the car) and stacking up foam blocks to knock them down! They have a "tot's garden" which is a fenced off little area that is all squishy mats and soft stuff to crawl over, under, through, etc., and little tubes of balls and feathers to shake and squeeze. He likes pushing the cart in the little pretend store but I think he'll understand the fruit and veg and checkout part when he gets a little bigger (now it's just stuff to put in his mouth). Skyler used to love the water room when I used to take him there but we avoided it this time - I know Zac would enjoy scooping water and splashing his hands but I knew he'd get soaked so we'll save that for next time.
Skyler is in Science camp this week and gets to build roller coasters and learn about static electricity, phosphorescence, atomic structures and gravity and build tons of fun science kid stuff. His favorite so far K'nex Lego building things. He's having a great summer so far running around and playing. He goes to his old pre-school for their day camp on Mondays and Fridays and has fun journal writing and making art.
Anyway, that's what we've been up to!
