Skyler's first pet - caterpillar Fuzzbee

Today we went to the zoo with our good friends Sharon & Brodie. A little girl was looking at a fuzzy caterpillar on a bush so Skyler and I went to investigate. We found it was a rare and special fuzzy caterpillar of the black and yellow type. He was very friendly and climbed right onto Sky's hand. We walked around the zoo with him riding on our sleeves and shoulders and he became so attached to us we simply had to bring him home.

For his birthday Skyler got an insect house (small wooden box, mesh on two sides) so that is now Fuzzbee's home. Matt looked him up on the internet and it turns out he is a Spotted Tussock and VERY cute! He will be a moth someday but we don't know just when. I picked some lettuce, sage and mint from the backyard and wet a few of the leaves, I also picked some of the bush he was sitting on at the zoo and we but them all in his little house.

Skyler said he likes having a pet (yes, we still have our bathroom cat, but he just sits there so I guess Skyler must not think of him as much of a pet...), and he's very sweet and says things like "OK little buddy, climb up on my shoulder and I'll show you my room" and "Oh, Fuzzybee, would you like a snack?"

Do I see a puppy in our future? Maybe someday, I think we'll start with something less demanding like a goldfish or a mouse.
